Back to Work ... Feeling Fine

By Monday I was feeling much better ... a good thing because I am unusually busy this week. I've been working on Centennial Wall Quilts in the mornings and at Duck Central in the afternoons. Everyone at DC is working hard to make this year's Duck Race a success. My little piece of the operation is entering adoption form information into the database (and hot gluing the holes in the bottoms of the sponsor ducks). I have a good crew helping me and, with the exception of a few minor glitches, it's all running smoothly. Here are a few photos taken at Duck Central.

A Wee Bit Under the Weather

convalescent nook

A touch of something nasty has kept me on the couch or in the bed the past two days. Wayne and I had planned to join my mom for Easter service at her Presbyterian church then have noon dinner with her at Good Samaritan dining room. Wayne went without me and had a nice time. I dozed,  watched two episodes of Land Girls on Acorn on my laptop, read a few pages in my current book, The Telling Room and dozed some more. I've had Sprite and saltines. As I sit here I think I feel better but the test will be when I get up and walk around a bit. I'm counting on being well by tomorrow, a busy day.

Estes Park Medical Center Hangs My Quilt

Estes Park Medical Center has hung my Rocky Mountain National Park Centennial Wall Quilt in the lobby. I went over to visit it today and take a few photos. I'm so pleased with the location - right where everyone will notice it. Now I'll wait to see how many orders I get. I finished three this week-end and I've started four more today. My Aspen Loft Studio has become a little quilt factory. These small quilts will be sold by Trail Ridge Quilters to benefit the medical center (95%) and Rocky Mountain Nature Association (5%).

Teaching Beginning Quilters

Estes Valley Quilt Guild recently offered a four-part class for beginning quilters. Last night I was one of the teachers for the final class. I'm proud of the students and what they've accomplished and I'm eager to see their first quilts when they are completed. Both quilters in these photos are making baby quilts for granddaughters - I find that grandmothers make some of the most dedicated of quilters! Bravo to our new quilt makers!

Unusual Reasons to Reside in Estes Park

There are countless reasons for choosing to live in Estes Park, Colorado. I hadn't thought of this one until my recent visit to the dentist. Where else in the world can I have my teeth cleaned while enjoying live entertainment provided by the local elk population?

Extended Family Visit

One just never knows how a family visit will play out. For a week we've hosted my sister and niece at our house while my nephew, his wife and three children have also been in Estes Park staying at a resort cabin most of the time. The nephew, wife and one child left town on Thursday and the two other kids (teenagers) moved into our house until this morning when they all left for home. Mom joined us for some meals and excursions.

We enjoyed seeing everyone and I had some good talks with my sister and niece. After a week of company, however, I'm exhausted and I need to catch up on things that need to be finished NOW! I wish there were some way to host house guests and still keep up with my regular activities and commitments while avoiding the feeling of exhaustion that sets in by the second day. If there is a way, I don't know it!

Today I'm doing laundry and quilt guild computer work which I've neglected. Tomorrow I plan to clean house and work on Centennial Quilts.
